[Yhslug] installing ubuntu on this snowy day

hi group -

    this nice snowy weather is ideal for installing ubuntu. i'm trying to
install ubuntu on a dell optiplex gx150 desktop and am getting this error
message when booting from cd.

     "buffer i/o error on device hdc. logical block 0."

        any ideas on what this error message might be about?
