Przemek, Megan, and Pete have this year succeeded where I failed
for three years: in getting a spot on the Congressional Internet
Caucus Tech Fair.  I congratulate all three most heartily!  The
spot is actually called Open Source, but we can think of it as
Linux, its apps and its philosophy, except for those of us who
prefer OpenBSD, _its_ apps, and _its_ philosophy.

Anyway, the Tech Fair is on 31 January, from 5 to 7, in the
Hart Senate Office Building, Rm 902.  Plan on attending if
you possibly can.  Don't even think about driving.  Take the
Metro to Union Station; the Hart SOB is a short walk from
there.

Go to: www.netcaucus.org/events/2007/kickoff/ for further
information.  Click on "Demonstrators" to see the various
organisations/firms who will be there.  The event is absolutely
free, and absolutely open to the public, but they do say that
they "appreciate RSVPs":

The event is reminiscent of the FOSE event, except it is quite a
bit smaller and much shorter.  But it is frequented by movers and
shakers; if you see someone with a suit but without a name tag,
it is very likely a Representative or a Senator.  Go right up to
such a person, introduce yourself, and hold out your hand<g>.
And then bend such person's ear about the virtues of Linux/FLOSS,
or whatever else you chose to.  I personally plan to answer
questions about Linux(if I can), and also to talk about net
neutrality(some of you may have seen the smarmily disingenuous
article about net neutrality on the OpEd page of Friday's WaPo).

Oh, and the free beer.  There is a table groaning with mostly
yummy finger food (last year the shrimp were badly defrosted and
were soggy), _and_ an open bar, where wine and beer are offered
for your refreshment.  Who pays for this?  Take a look at the
list of Demonstrators to get a hint (No, it isn't Pete Nuwayser!)

For follow-up questions, ask Przemek or Megan.  Does anyone have
a linux button/pin I can borrow?
