[Yhslug] installing linux on an IBM PC 300PL

hi yhslug community -

     someone dropped off a couple of donated IBM PC 300PL desktops.  i'd like to
install linux on these.

        when i try to reach the setup by pressing F2 on boot, i get a screen
asking me to press Control-S to reach the setup.  i do that, but then the
computer just boots into windows xp.

         thanks in advance for any suggestions.
