Subject: [501 Tech Club DC] World Bank releases open source "super aggregator"

Hi folks,

My name is Pierre Guillaume Wielezynski, I work for the World Bank here in
DC and thought this would be of interest to this group.

Last week, we released the The BuzzMonitor a "super aggregator" that helps
organizations better understand, monitor and join global conversations of
interest to them. It was conceived by the World Bank, built on top of an
open-source platform and is now ready for anyone to download and install.

The BuzzMonitor allows users to aggregate all types of feeds (blog feeds,
search feeds, news feeds) and collaborate around them. It provides tag
clouds, digg-like voting, technorati and alexa widgets, user tags and many
other features.

The World Bank is aware of the increasingly important role social media is
playing and we needed a tool to help us aggregate and make sense of what is
being said about the organization. We quickly realized many other
organizations could benefit from it, especially in the non-profit / activism
sector so we released the tool under a GPL license.

You can learn more here and take a tour: http://buzzm.worldbank.org

If you install it, i'd love to get your feedback.

Thanks!

Pierre Guillaume Wielezynski
